Angel Wings
In this piece, the fine Merino wool background ranges in color from purple to gray to black. The 3-dimensional embellishments on the pair of wings were made from old t-shirts, a variety of other cotton fabrics, antique lace, and even raw silk cocoons! Then, the embellishment pieces were covered with hand-dyed Margillan silk. The carving of design’s edges and holes was done when the piece was almost finished.
